Project information
Located in Llucmajor, on the southern area of Mallorca, Cap Blanc Solar Farm generates 50 MW of renewable, carbon-free electricity.
The name Llucmajor comes from the Latin LUCUS MAIORIS, which means greater forest. With an area of 325 km², the municipality of Llucmajor is the most extensive in Mallorca, 15 minutes from Son Sant Joan international airport and 20 minutes from Palma.
The solar farm’s location played a pivotal role from the project's inception. Given its proximity to Palma and popular tourist destinations, the solar farm was strategically designed to be situated within the picturesque fields of Llucmajor's rural areas, cleverly nestled within the existing stone walls to effectively mitigate any potential visual impact.
Once the solar farm becomes operational, it is anticipated that sheep will graze on the pasture beneath the panels.
This project is crucial for Llucmajor's growth and energy needs, helping ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions on the island of Mallorca.
Status
Cap Blanc Solar Farm has received all consents and is expected to be connected to the electrical distribution grid by October 2024.
