Environmental savings
Project information
Located in North Yorkshire, Carlton Solar Farm was strategically chosen for its close proximity to Selby's Drax Power Station. This project has been a joint venture with renewable developers, P3P Partners.
New planting has been designed to help integrate the development into the character of the landscape through the creation of a woodland belt, wildflower meadows and native hedgerows. The landscape strategy also includes for internal hedgerows to be enhanced and strengthened across the scheme where necessary.
The scheme includes extensive planting of wildflower meadows across the site to enhance on-site biodiversity and to create attractive views along a newly proposed permissive footpath that connects to three existing public rights of way around the site. The new footpath creates links to the existing public rights of way to the north, east and west which in turn helps to create circular walking routes through the site.
Community benefits will be contributed to the parish councils.
As part of the project, woodland trees and hedgerows will be planted throughout the site. Furthermore, a community benefit was contributed to the parish council.
Status
The project received planning approval in 2024 and is currently in the pre-construction phase.
